Ups & Downs of September

There were definitly a lot of up and downs at the Barbour Shoppe in September. We live and we learn and hopefully make better choices in the future!

So lets start off with the ups! I have been very fusterated in my line of work for a couple of years now, so I finally bit the bullet, got some courage and I am FINALLY going back to school to be a nurse! I love learning about the body, helping and listening to people. I have been wanting to do this for so long now and it scared me to death to think of starting over. I've always felt like at this point in my life I should be established in my career and be pretty successful, but I'm not there and I think it is because I just do not like Accounting. Being miserable at a job you will never be on top because you do not care enough to change it you just end up doing what you have to to get by. So I am changing that and I am starting school in January! I should have went into the medical field in the first place, but I talked myself out of it because I was so good with numbers I went for finance instead. Oh well you live and you learn right? Just sometimes you learn the hard way :). Oh and as always Savannah Banana is doing great!

Now for some downs..... Mr. Barbour got stationed in SC and has been living there for three months now and I miss him like crazy! That man is my best friend. We talk everyday whether we have anything to say or not we just want to feel like we are in the same room together. Kind of dorky, but we even put the phones on speaker so we don't feel like we are on the phone. I love him :). He does try to come home every other weekend, but it always seems so far in between. Thats one of the prices you pay for being a military wife I guess. Luckily/hopefully he will be moving back in January so I am pretty excited about that.

On top of that we found out our septic tank system needs to be replaced, because the pipes in the yard are crushed.... This is horrible! Do you have any idea how much it costs to replace a septic system??? Try about $10,000! Talk about wiping out all of our plans we had.... and our savings. We had this great idea that we would buy a townhome for us to live in and also buy another rental property to hopefully get some additional income while we were both going to school. Well that plan went down the tube when the whole septic tank issue evolved. Hopefully October brings the Barbour Shoppe some better luck :)
